Start Your Day Right with These 3 Morning Routines Jan10th 2021

Ready to Take the Day by Storm?

Not everybody looks forward to early mornings with the same zest and enthusiasm as, say, an evening out with friends.

If you’re ready for a shift in approach to your morning routine, one that leaves you feeling energized and healthy, Infinity Physical Therapy has a few suggestions!

Not a morning person yet? No problem!

It can admittedly be difficult to train your body to get up early every morning without feeling exhausted. We’ve all made the same excuse when having to wake up earlier than usual: “But I’m not a morning person!” The truth is, anyone can become an early riser if they want to.

One way to make waking up early a bit easier is to focus on your goals. When you wake up earlier, you have more time in the day to be productive and work on said goals. If you are a physical therapy patient, this concept may be easier for you to implement than others – you already have a physical therapist to remind you of the importance of reaching your goals!

However, anyone can implement an earlier start to the day into their morning routine. When your alarm rings and you feel like pressing that snooze button, just remind yourself of your daily goals and why you are getting up earlier – to make progress.

A simple daily reminder that your goal for the day – whatever it may be – can give you the extra shot of energy you need to get out of bed. After a while, you’ll find that waking up early becomes a simple part of your morning routine!

Move, move, move

Exercising early may not be your thing, however, it’s important to have some sort of physical activity early on in your day.

Whether it is a 2-minute jog in place or a 15-minute yoga session, find a way to be physical first thing in the morning.

It not only helps your body to be healthier from a physical standpoint, it also brings a renewed psychological start to the day.

If pain is holding you back, our physical therapists can help. Give us a call; we’ll help make every morning a better one!

Ask yourself this

Steve Jobs once described his morning routine. As an integral part of it, he would look in the mirror and ask himself,

“If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I’m about to do today?”

If the response was “no” too many days in a row, he recognized the need for a change in his life. Consider adopting this mantra for yourself.

Always stay hydrated

Many people simply don’t practice recommended hydration methods. If you are exercising daily or participating in physical therapy treatments, it is especially important to make sure you stay hydrated, as you’ll be removing water from your body by sweating.

It is important to make sure you drink at least a couple full glasses of water at the start of your morning – and you can have them alongside your nutritional breakfast!

This is a small addition to your morning routine but it can prove extremely beneficial in helping you wake up and feel ready to face the day.

It is also a good idea to carry around a water bottle throughout the day that you can continuously fill up as needed, especially when you are at physical therapy sessions or exercising on your own. Never skip out on hydration if you want to feel your best!

Make sure to stretch everything

Before getting out of bed, reach your arms to the ceiling and flex your fingers. Liven up every part of your body by stretching it.

Move your hand, wrist, and fingers. Fill your lungs and stretch your stomach. Tighten and release your legs, calves, ankles, feet, and toes.

End with a neck and back stretch that propels you from the bed. By doing so, you loosen each muscle and increase the flow of oxygen. This healthy approach to your morning routine will leave you much more energized.

Are you living with a chronic illness?

Chronic illnesses can make your morning routines difficult; however, physical therapy can help.

As stated by Oxford Academic,

“The impact of chronic diseases on health and wellness can be significantly altered by individual health and behavior choices or modifications. Furthermore, the burden of chronic disease goes beyond health and the health care system and may influence an individual’s wellness.”

Physical therapy can help you push past the barriers of your chronic illness so you can live the life you want.

By working with a physical therapist, you can discover the best morning routine for your personal needs, so you can seize the day without worrying about pain!
